Job Description:
Airbus Helicopters is looking for a Sr Quality Engineer to join our team based in Columbus, MS.
In this role, you will drive the performance on non-conformance management, including root cause and corrective action for repeat defects. You will also lead the continuous improvement and quality mindset by gathering, analyzing and implementing improvements to the cost of non-quality.

Your Challenges:
Quality Management System: 25%
Define and improve the quality processes within the AHI Organization, facilitate PDCA/PPS projects as required.
Ensures the implementation of Quality Requirements in regard to engineering tasks (e.g. (MRB), drawing review, Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) Process with suppliers).
Quality liaison for Customer and Technical Support.
Serves as the Quality board member for MRB and is responsible for MRB dispositions.
Act as a Lead Auditor in AHI’s Internal Audit Program, and support AHI internal Auditor training.
Act as primary Quality interface with Type Design Holder to resolve product, system and design defects. Coordinator for internal Quality Notification process in SAP; disposition and closure.
Coordinate supplier First Article Inspection process on new STC/PMA parts.
Quality liaison supporting Purchasing, Logistics and Industry departments for supplier rejections and discrepant material.
Internal Audit Program: 25%
Lead AHI site specific internal audit program and define internal audit plan based on regulatory, contractual and statutory requirements
Ensure completion of internal audit program to fulfil regulatory requirements
Ensure follow up and implementation of CAR (Corrective Action Request)
Ensure Definition and Improvement of quality processes within AHI Quality (e.g. use output of 1st, 2nd and 3rd party audits to improve quality processes)
Compliance: 20%
Ensures initiation and follow-up of incident handling (WebTek Dashboard, In Service Incident Report (ISIR) / Quality Notification (QN) / Quality Incident Report (QIR) in liaison with Airbus in a timely and appropriate manner.
Ensure that all Regulatory and Customer Quality requirements are reviewed, validated and implemented into AHI as appropriate.
Continuous Improvement: 15%
Analysis of non-conformities and initiation of appropriate Corrective Actions to preclude recurrence.
Improve Quality processes within AHI utilizing associated tools such as PDCA/APQP/PPS/8D/PFMEA etc.
Coordinate failure analysis on discrepant product returned by the Customer and ensures that cause and corrective action is implemented and effective.
Quality Metrics: 10%
Maintain Quality Metrics including, but not limited to, Cost of Non-Quality.
Identify, examine and report quality key performance indicators (KPI) utilizing SAP, Tableau and other related tools to measure quality performance.
Complete trend analysis and develop corrective action plans for Quality Metrics.
Additional Responsibilities: 5%
Lead and participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) projects and coach team members on CI tools (e.g. PDCA)
Coordinate with FAA/DCMA and AS9100 authorities during audit preparation, audit execution and maintenance of the AHI’s Quality Management Systems.
Act on behalf of AHI Quality as Designated Airworthiness Representative (DAR) in coordination with the FAA Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) or Manufacturing Inspection District Office (MIDO), Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative (DMIR), or ODA inspection unit member.
Perform ODA conformity activity on STC projects. Train administrators and inspectors on processes and procedures for ODA conformity activity.
Your Boarding Pass:
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Aviation, or Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of eight (8) years of related experience with a minimum of three (3) of those years as a Quality Engineer.
In lieu of degree, 12 years in a Quality Assurance capacity (Engineering/Analyst/Inspection), with three (3) of those as a Quality Engineer
Knowledge of FAA & AS9100 rules and regulations.
Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Facilitation.
US Person under ITAR definition (U.S. Citizen, green card holder or person covered under our existing ITAR license)
Preferred Education/Skills:
Airframe & Powerplant (A&P)
ASQ Quality Engineer Certificate
Internal/External Auditor Certification
Six Sigma Green and/or Black Belt Certification
Knowledge of EASA & CASE rules and regulations.
Advanced SAP Capability
Technical knowledge of Airbus products
SAP/ Microsoft Office/SharePoint
Travel Required:

- Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Daily
- Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer. Several times a week
- Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. Daily
- Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor. Daily
- Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. 10% or less yearly
- Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Daily
- Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
- Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
