Job Purpose:

As part of the Commercial team within AALTO, you will be reporting to the Director Connectivity EU & APAC. This role is to ensure complete alignment across the Japanese customer, AALTO and Airbus Japan to manage existing opportunities and develop new ones. You will be the primary customer contact and must manage the day-to-day account activities of AALTO’s largest commercial customer in Japan. Building in-country relationships directly with the customer and their wider end-customer and supplier base to ensure AALTO’s strategy, roadmap and capabilities are clearly and consistently communicated to manage and set customer expectations. As AALTO moves closer to commercial Entry into Service, you will have specific targets and be required to continuously provide local market requirements for the ongoing product roadmap, positioning and go-to-market needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Primary account mgr. for daily customer engagement activities within the Japanese market – initially with AALTO’s largest strategic partner/customer

  • Developing, managing and maintaining key relationships within the Japanese market – supporting AALTO’s targets and ambitions through our local partnership(s)

  • Identifying, gathering & developing future business opportunities to meet AALTO’s regional targets

  • Supporting and participating in the regular governance meetings with accurate, timely content (Commercial, Technical, Regulatory for full awareness)

  • Ensuring AALTO’s strategy is clearly communicated, and timely updates provided to the customers and their wider base of end users and suppliers (as required)

  • Capturing the Japanese market requirements, customer specific development plans and ensuring AALTO is aware of these

  • Providing regular updates to the AALTO Commercial Team through regular (weekly) meetings

  • Representing AALTO at local events (as required)

  • Building a strong relationship with Airbus Japan to ensure alignment and opportunities identified, nurtured and secured

  • Collaborate with AALTO internal departments, especially Programme Management,
    Commercial and Engineering, to ensure they understand the customer’s requirements

  • Resolve complaints and keep track of all processes

  • Act as the customer’s representative within AALTO to facilitate the best customer service

  • Collect and analyse data about customer and end-user behaviour to understand trend changes in needs

  • Escalate issues according to the level of priority required

Experience and Qualifications:

  • 5-10yrs account management experience in large telecoms/mobile/satellite/aviation industry

  • Demonstrable track record of successfully managing large, complex, technology-based customers in the Japanese market

  • Bi-lingual preference – Japanese and English

  • Awareness of Non-Terrestrial Networking (NTN), High Altitude Platform Stations (HAPS) and the role they play

  • Awareness/experience of the Sensing, Earth Observation and imaging market

  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours as required
