In order to support Electronic Warfare Tornado & FCAS, Airbus Defence and Space in Manching is looking for a

EO/IR System Engineer (d/f/m)

We design and integrate airborne electronic reconnaissance and self-protection systems and supervise the development through the entire life cycle. As a competence driven organisation we are involved in a wide range of programmes such as TORNADO, EF, FCAS, Remote Carrier etc. and benefit from our intense operational experience of the Tornado Defensive Aids System. If you are interested in system engineering, integration and management with a strong operational mission focus we can offer a very interesting and challenging field of technology such as RF/EO Systems, Radar Technology, Radar and Missile Warner systems, Sensor Fusion & Sensor Management as well as RF and IR counter measure techniques.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Definition of technical system concepts and architectures
  • Execution of trade-offs for the selection of technical baselines
  • Specification of Optronic EW Equipment based on Customer requirements and Concept of Operations
  • Supporting R&T studies
  • Supplier Management
  • Monitor Development, Qualification and Certification Activities of the suppliers
  • Support to system integration activities


Desired skills and qualifications :

  • Degree in Physics, Photonics, Optronics or equivalent
  • Profound experience in the specification of optronic EW sensors and associated performances
  • Understanding of Operational usage of EW Sensors and Effectors
  • Experience in System Engineering (V-Model)
  • Experience in Matlab
  • Experience in Zeemax would be beneficial
  • Experience in the usage of TRM4 would be beneficial
  • Experience in the usage of Modtran would be beneficial
  • English mandatory, German is a plus
