We are seeking talented and motivated engineers to join our team, in Filton, UK. As an Aerodynamics engineer, you will be contributing directly to the manufacturing and in-service support of our entire fleet of current and future aircraft through the generation and analysis of aerodynamic data.

As part of a highly collaborative and transnational team, you will be working on:

  • Providing aerodynamic support to our production lines to enable the swift and continuous delivery of aircraft to our customers

  • Providing aerodynamic support to aircraft specific design, including aerodynamic analysis of aircraft modifications through methods including empirical analysis, comparative analysis, modelling and simulation, and analysis of wind tunnel or flight test data

  • Responding to, and providing aerodynamic support for, in-service incidents involving aircraft damage and repairs, both during normal working hours and as part of an out-of-hours on-call rotation, to enable the continuous operation of our in-service fleet and minimising aircraft-on-ground time

  • Building collaborative working relationships with our chief engineering, production, and customer-support teams to drive aerodynamics to the heart of our design, manufacturing and in-service support functions

Are you the one ?

Experience required:

  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, with a specialisation in Aerodynamics.

  • Proven experience in aerodynamics (2 years minimum)

We need someone who has:

  • Knowledge of aerodynamics, including the factors that influence the generation of aircraft lift and drag

  • An inquisitive mindset to understand, challenge and improve

  • The ability to take ownership of and drive your activities to completion

  • The ability to communicate complex messages simply and adapt those messages to your audience

  • A proactive, pragmatic mindset to support a high-pace and 24/7 support network to our fleet

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • You are autonomous, curious, proactive, rigorous, with great attention to detail;

  • You are Fluent in English (verbal and written).

Additionally, any of the following would be of benefit for this role:

  • Knowledge or experience of aircraft performance, for example the factors that influence take off and landing performance, aerodynamic safety limitations, and the flight phases of a commercial aircraft.

  • A solid understanding or practical experience of modelling the aerodynamics of 2D or 3D geometries in CFD

  • A solid understanding or practical experience of planning, supporting and analysing wind tunnel tests and/or flight tests, including the measurement techniques, practical limitations, and common aerodynamic considerations and corrections
