It would be great if you have:
Delivering BI solutions: You will have been involved in the deployment of effective, scalable, self-service BI solutions. From identifying the user needs, to building tools (such as dashboards, alerts, reports or materialised views) through to navigating the areas of support and training that come ensuring they provide ongoing value.
Analysis & Insight: We will be serving teams across the business so you will have experience of defining processes and metrics relevant to various teams (Sales, Marketing, Product, and Finance). You will have a track record of providing valuable insights and analysis that supports decision making and drives action, and you will be a good communicator able to convey information and present recommendations effectively to a variety of teams and levels of seniority.
Data Modelling & Manipulation: While SQL is a ‘must have’, you will also have competency with common languages and tools of the modern data stack: python, notebooks, version control, warehouses, and transformation tools. You will be comfortable developing models to live within the warehouse, or accessing and manipulating data for ad-hoc analysis or exploratory work.
Data Governance: You will understand the challenges with ensuring data quality through the pipeline and managing discrepancies across sources. You will have had a hand in developing controls and data quality tests, exposure to tools and processes involved in their implementation.
It would be nice if you have:
Significant exposure to end-to-end project ownership: you can run discovery processes with stakeholders, scope, plan and deliver solutions that meet their requirements, while being able to deal with various blockers and negotiations along the way.
Experience with advanced analysis methods: while we will aim to keep things simple, you won’t be afraid to make use of more sophisticated techniques as required especially across: time series analysis, classification, marketing attribution modelling etc.
An interest in/experience with creative, but effective, data visualisations beyond the standard bar, line, and scatter-plot charts.
Some understanding/exposure to streaming data tools and processes would be beneficial.
Our teams are active open source contributors and are encouraged to do this as part of their role at Ably. We like new team members who enjoy contributing back to the open source community, even if those contributions are small.
Good grasp of Agile, Kanban and SCRUM.
