Global Head of New Business Onboarding

The Global Head of New Business Onboarding is a new role within the Currencycloud compliance function. The successful candidate will lead and oversee an experienced team that conducts detailed reviews on financial institution clients as part of the onboarding process. It is a global role that will work closely with regional sales leaders to prioritise new opportunities and will supervise regional compliance teams to ensure that CC's processes and risk appetite are applied consistently across Currencycloud’s global hubs. This is a senior role that will sit alongside the Head of Financial Crime reporting into the Group MLRO.

The Details

Act as a senior member of the second line compliance function alongside the Head of Financial Crime and Group MLRO

Lead the Global New Business Onboarding teams within Currencycloud’s compliance function. From 2022 this will include team members in the UK, North America and Singapore

Manage and provide mentorship to the regional New Business Onboarding managers and team leads

Liaise with the Global Sales leadership team to prioritise new opportunities and provide updates on applications under review

Lead the discovery of new markets and segments on behalf of the Compliance team. Work closely with Sales and account managers to understand the regulatory and financial crime risks and identify what new controls and processes will be required. This will include regularly attending preliminary client calls alongside Sales, Account Manager and Solutions Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the overall New Business Onboarding framework Including measures to assess the maturity of potential clients Financial Crime, Regulatory and Business Conduct controls

Chair the bi-weekly New Business Onboarding meeting to present new clients and obtain approval from key stakeholders within the Global Compliance function

Own the global procedure framework for New Business Onboarding and ensure that it is applied consistently across the regional New Business Onboarding teams, taking account for local uplifts and requirements where relevant

Act as an internal subject matter expert on financial crime and regulatory matters for the New Business Onboarding teams

Provide formal and informal training to junior team members. Share knowledge on internal trends and wider industry developments within the compliance department

Provide formal training to other functions that are involved in the onboarding of new financial institution clients, such as Sales, Account Management and Solutions

Be aware of changes in the wider business (products, jurisdictions etc.) and how these may impact the compliance team

Provide ongoing feedback to the team on recent developments and updates from management

Team Management

This role is collaborative in nature, and you will:

Work alongside the business and the wider compliance team

Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will have:

A background within financial services with an understanding of controls and regulatory expectations for firms providing payment services

A genuine interest in the FinTech industry with a drive to increase their knowledge and experience

Experience of conducting reviews or assessments in the retail banking or payments sector (covering Financial Crime, Regulatory and Business Conduct)

A hands-on and independent approach

Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Beyond these requirements, we would be very interested to speak to candidates who have any of the following in addition:

Experience working at an external advisory firm (e.g. consulting firms) conducting review or audits of Financial Crime and/or Regulatory control frameworks

An ability to research, understand and interpret regulatory approaches across the globe and/or collaborate with local subject matter experts to tailor the Global New Business Onboarding framework to local rules where required

Experience of managing a team across multiple locations
