Job Description

The secret of a great developer experience is to keep a product’s technical documentation accurate, consistent and up-to-date. Transparency is one of our key values and we want to make sure that technical users are as informed as they possibly can be. Starting with exploration of the TrueLayer product, through to integration with our APIs and ultimately going live.

If you understand the importance of strong documentation for a technical product, then we want to hear from you!

We’re looking for a passionate Technical Writer to work at the heart of a cross-functional team spanning Product, Engineering and Design. You’ll be working with our Developer Experience Team to set and implement the strategy for our technical documentation and ultimately make it as useful as possible to our technical users.

Join our Developer Experience Team to take ownership of how our documentation evolves, improves and ultimately reflects the power of what we’re building at TrueLayer. We want to build something that developers recommend to each other and you can help us do that.

At TrueLayer, we’re building a global open banking platform that’s changing how money moves and so much more. We make payments and refunds instant, account data accessible and verification seamless — all so innovators in every industry can build better financial experiences for their users.

To date, we’ve raised $270 million from world-renowned investors including Stripe, Tiger Global, Addition and Tencent. We’ve got offices in London, Milan, Dublin and Sydney. And we’re trusted by industry leaders like Revolut, Cazoo and Trading 212… though we’re not stopping here.

Our vision is a financial system that works for everyone. To make that happen, we’re creating original and innovative products that will remove the friction from finance for good. We’re seriously scaling our infrastructure, we’re entering new territories all the time, we’re cornering a whole new category — and we’d like your help to get us there.

As a Technical Writer at TrueLayer, you will:

  • Advocate for our technical users, so that we meet their needs and give them the information they need.
  • Help to define and implement a broader strategy for our technical documentation, guides and reference information.
  • Write technical content (documentation, blog articles, guidelines, getting started guides, etc)
  • Help to coordinate and orchestrate all stakeholders to generate content that align with our tone of voice, brand identity and overall messaging.
  • Maintain consistency between different products and contextualise them in the platform experience.
  • Help to manage relationships with PM and tech leads before and after the product and feature launch.
  • Collaborate with Product Marketing to ensure consistency in our external communications and reference materials.

Requirements

What we need from you:

  • Excellent communication skills (high standard of fluent written English).
  • Experience of working with API products and appreciation of all things technical.
  • Technical understanding and the ability to communicate those concepts with non-technical people.
  • Ability to collaborate across an organisation and get people invested in the power of strong documentation.
  • Experience in an agile working environment.
  • Ability to manage work independently and as part of a broader team

Nice to haves:

  • Previous experience in a high growth tech startup or scaleup, preferably a financial one (but that’s not the end of the world)
  • Previous experience with design systems, brand guidelines and content style guides
  • Previous experience in a company with API products at
