About the role:

  • You will be accountable/point of escalation for technology concerns at Impala, including the reliability, security, and quality of our services and data.
  • You will be leading on technical strategy & prioritisation for the entire engineering group, managing risks and broader technical investment to meet both immediate and future needs of the business
  • Ensuring monitoring, metrics and SRE practices are in place across all teams and services to measure and meet high service SLA’s / expectations
  • You will be leading an enablement team, ensuring that we have adequate technical/DevOps/SecOps specialist knowledge in-house to support our teams
  • Ensuring technical direction and mentorship is available across teams to deliver new services to a high level of quality in a consistent manner
  • Continuously exploring ways to optimise team delivery through technology (e.g. templating to avoid inter-team duplication)
  • Leading on necessary technical compliance (e.g. GDPR, PCI, etc)

Check in with us if this sounds like you:

  • 10+ years of relevant and diverse product and engineering experience, with 4+ years of executive-level presence at an organisation with a strong engineering culture.
  • Are an expert in the architectural design, development, and operation of large scale, high availability services
  • Demonstrated experience with modern web services, distributed service-oriented architectures and services that handle large quantities of data, across multiple different stacks.
  • You have experience leading technology across a large engineering team (30+), including technical strategy, prioritisation and best practice. Able to set SLA’s / SLO’s / other quality metrics and hold teams and technical leaders accountable
  • Are able to work closely with cross-department stakeholders to anticipate and plan for future technical requirements
