Job Description

The Engineering Lead will provide technical management in all activities related to the delivery of the company’s software products and solutions - from architecture, development, releases, integrations, quality assurance, and support. We are a lean and efficient team, so this is a hand-on role, not an ivory-tower leadership position. You will report to the CTO, who is moving away from day-to-day software team management to focus on Concured's strategic IP portfolio.

What you’ll be doing

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the software development team, upholding sprint velocity and working closely with individual developers where needed to unblock issues
  • Contribute to the technical roadmap, with a focus on the client-facing aspects of the product (API and above)
  • Balance the demands of new development (release content, quality, and desired release dates) alongside maintenance of existing systems (tech debt, dependencies, vulnerabilities, and architecture evolution)
  • Explore solution spaces for new projects, including scoping development work and evaluating potential vendors for “build-vs-buy” decisions
  • Manage the technical aspect of relationships with third-party suppliers, as well as offshoring partners and contractors

Requirements

  • A track record of leading a high-performing software product development team
  • Technical skills related to the role, including JavaScript, React, and DevOps (K8S & CI/CD) on GCP
  • Keeps up to date with relevant technical knowledge, best-practices, skills and industry trends
  • Effective manager of people, experience of hiring great talent, and fosters continuous development of team members
  • Have a good “ground game” – you’re capable of dropping into the details and making things happen at a low level
  • Experience working in an agile, fast-paced, and innovative environment
  • A bachelor's degree or above in a highly quantitative discipline

Benefits

  • Role can be fully remote in either the UK or Canada
  • Salary in the range of £85,000 to £120,000
  • Share option package
  • DC Pension Plan
  • 25 days annual leave, plus bank holidays and your birthday
  • A home office budget to get you set-up while working remotely
  • Training budget to support development in your role
