Analytics Engineer

Employment type:  Full time

Fully-remote

A little flex time

Job Description

At Capdesk, we’re about to rewrite the history books on how companies use equity to empower their people. By unlocking the power of equity, we can change finance for good.

With equity made more accessible, businesses can unite employees, owners and investors through shared success. It might sound revolutionary, but it shouldn’t. It’s about time.

In the last few years, we’ve quietly become a leader in our field, providing the easiest way for private companies to digitise their equity information and manage and issue employee equity schemes. There are no longer any excuses for denying employees a share of the wealth they helped to create.

We recently launched a first-of-its-kind secondaries market to take our mission even further. Now, employees can turn vested shares into equity as and when it suits them – no more waiting for the company to IPO.

Employee equity schemes have been broken for too long; it’s time to create a world where everyone can be a stakeholder.

Capdesk is remote-friendly, but more importantly team-first. We have amazing people all over the world but most of the team is split between Copenhagen and London where we still have brick-and-mortar offices. Applicants are welcome from every time zone within UTC -5 and +2.

We’re a lean team, so every hire is significant to us. We’re looking for each newcomer to strengthen our mission, our team and our culture – and challenge us to get better.

We completed an £8m Series A in March 2021, and we have over 1000 of Europe's startups and scale-ups using our software. We’re gearing up to go further, across Europe and beyond. That’s where you come in.

About the role

Data is the backbone of our business. We strongly believe it is a competitive advantage and want data to support the work and decisions of every Capdesker. We just kick-started the data team with our BI Lead Simon. We now need support in building out the data function with an Analytics Engineer who helps with the implementation of the modern data tool stack consisting of Fivetran, Snowflake, dbt and Looker.

As we just started our data story this will be a role with a wide range of responsibilities, from building data models, discussions on metric definitions to building the key dashboards of the company. The role can develop in different ways depending on your preferences and strengths.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with our different departments to provide them with clean data ready for analysis
  • Building and maintaining the main dashboards that show the state of business with our key metrics
  • Helping drive a change in usage of data by uncovering insights and presenting them to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Sharing knowledge and best practices with a growing data community across Capdesk
  • Shaping the role and evolving the data story of Capdesk – our tooling, culture and way of doing work!

About you

These are the skills and experience we’re looking for. Not having any or all of these experiences shouldn't stop you from applying. We’re looking for the right problem-solving mindset and value diversity. Beyond formal training, we care about finding someone who can quickly pick up the necessary technical skills.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • 1-3 years of experience in an Analytics role, preferably in a strong growth environment
  • Experience with any BI tool and any version of SQL
  • You’re able to communicate complex analytical problems clearly and concisely
  • Experience with dbt, Looker, Snowflake and Fivetran
  • Experience with git and the command line
  • Track record of close collaboration with business users to understand and fulfill their analytics needs

Bonus points for:

  • Track record of driving discussions to define metrics and dimensions
  • Experience with Python or R for advanced analytics needs
  • Understanding of SaaS metrics

What we can offer you:

  • Negotiable salary between £40-45k, based on your level of experience
