Despite this, the software used to control these CNC machines are stuck in the dark ages. It can require hours (sometimes days) of manual instruction by a skilled programmer before a component can be produced

What's it like to work together?
We're an ambitious company, building a fast paced factory to give our customers the best experience, so this means our production teams are onsite in our Chelmsford factory. We operate a continuous improvement environment whereby we reflect on what we're doing and why and challenge our previous ideas and experiences within manufacturing. We're a progressive team in our factory who help one another and recognise other teams that unblock us and/or support the other to move fast and maintain excellent quality for our customers. Our software engineers are often onsite to collaborate and understand your experiences, requirements, challenges and specialist knowledge.
We have 80+ people, so we're still learning and building different things from the ground up organisationally, technically and operationally. Engineering Buyer Role
We're seeking highly motivated Engineering Buyer to join us and add significant value to the procurement team. You will manage availability of an assigned portfolio of raw materials, consumables, bought in finished goods and subcontract services to meet and exceed our customer service targets and ensure high quality levels are sustained at a cost competitive price point. . This role will involve working in a busy environment where tenacity and proactiveness is required daily.
What you'll be doing.
Plan requirements for an assigned portfolio of raw materials, consumables, bought-in finished goods and subcontract services, and compile and distribute rolling buying plans regularly.
Routinely review planned requirements highlighting any shortages or excesses, and working with suppliers and internal stakeholders to mitigate risk where possible.
Manage tactical supplier performance via weekly reviews with key suppliers focussing on schedule adherence and the agreed forward plan, and resolve any issues that act as an immediate barrier to supply continuity.
Review and issue notifications on monthly supplier OTD and quality performance via the use of the business supplier performance process, completing first level reviews with suppliers and internal stakeholders where performance levels dictate.
·Support business inventory management processes by completing authorised quantity adjustments in the ERP system and administering routine cycle counts both internally and externally.
Collate departmental procurement data in support of local and group reporting requirements on inventory and cost saving activities.
Complete assigned aspects of New Product Development and Existing Product Development projects including initial input material and subcontract service RFQ’s.
Maintain ERP system data integrity for all supplier related fields including agreed lead-times, purchase pricing and key contacts.
Communicate and own relevant KPIs, reporting out at daily GEMBAs.
The department is bespoke and will require a level of flexibility in order to evolve with the business
Develop and maintain relevant standard operating procedures and/or work instructions.
Proactively contribute to the development of the supply chain in terms of service improvement and overall cost reduction
We're a match if you have………..
Demonstrated experience within materials planning and scheduling, and supplier performance management in a fast paced, regulated, precision engineering environment
Worked with sub-contract applications such as anodising, assembly and plating (desirable).
Experience using a business ERP system in a manufacturing environment
Excellent attention to detail with a capacity to recognise problems and proactively resolve where possible, and escalate as necessary
Strong numerical and analytical skills with a methodical and organised approach to work
The ability to work well under pressure within a busy office environment with the ability to prioritise multiple competing tasks
High energy, enthusiasm, excellent confidence and written and verbal communication when working with stakeholders both internally and externally.
The ability to adapt to different international cultures and able to adapt your style accordingly whilst ensuring targets are met and exceeded.
Excellent negotiation skills with a team player approach
Prior experience of using email and Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel
Desirable but not essential……..
Educated to degree standard desirable, but not essential – candidates with fewer qualifications, but demonstrated relevant experience will be considered
CIPS qualified desirable, but not essential – candidates with demonstrated relevant experience will be considered
A full, clean, UK driving license is desirable
