About Unmind

Unmind is a workplace mental health platform. We empower employees to live more fulfilling and balanced lives by changing the way organisations around the world think about mental health. We believe that everyone has the right to a healthy mind – because we all have mental health, all of the time – and we’re striving to create a world where mental health is universally understood, nurtured, and celebrated.

In the past 12 months, Unmind has grown from a 30 person team to a fast-growing, 120 person global organisation with offices in London, Sydney, and New York. With the recent announcement of our Series B funding, we're looking forward to our next stage of growth which will enable us to deliver on our mission to improve the mental wellbeing of ten million people in organisations around the world.

We have ambitious plans to change the perception of mental health and we still need help in achieving them– which is why we’re looking for an exceptional individual to join as a Lead QA Engineer.

The Role – Lead QA Engineer

We are looking for a Lead QA Engineer to join our Wellbeing Collective, a group of teams that look after our core product experience with the ultimate goal of ensuring that Unmind is an engaging product, with a high level of active users.

Having grown a lot in recent months, we are now hiring our first QA Engineers into our cross functional Product Teams. This role would be the most senior one among the QAs to begin with.

At Unmind, we have a mix of full-stack and backend focused Engineers. Our stack is built around Javascript, Typescript, React, Node.JS, Docker, MySQL, Postgres, AWS & Serverless. From a test automation perspective we mainly use Cypress, Jest and React Testing Library.

We’re scaling quickly, which means that the focus and responsibilities of any position can be quite dynamic – but here’s how we initially see your skills and passion coming to life at Unmind

Build: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and put into place good quality assurance practices & processes.

Drive: Define, collect and leverage quality metrics to enable evidence-driven quality strategies.

Mentor & Manage: Line manage QAs on other teams and be able to support their long term career objectives. You will also have an opportunity to mentor other members of the cross-functional teams, such as Engineers or Product Managers, on testing best practices, helping build a culture of quality thinking.

Skills and Experience

We firmly believe that no one is the finished article and that there should be learning in every role you do. However, some experience of the following is important for the role.

  • Testing across a variety of products, such as Web, Mobile, APIs
  • Testing throughout the whole product development lifecycle (shift left).
  • Test automation experience, ideally within our tech stack (Javascript, Typescript, SQL, Node.JS, AWS, Cypress, Jest, React
  • Line management of other QAs & mentoring all cross-functional team members on testing best practices.
  • Passionate about mental health, tech-for-good, and generally improving people’s lives
  • Comfortable working in an environment of rapid growth, constant change, and lots of unknowns
  • Excited to play a part in making Unmind the global category leader of workplace mental health
