Who are CloudNC?

CNC machines are responsible for producing more than $120BN worth of metal components every year, serving every manufacturing vertical from motorsport parts in Formula 1 to satellites in space. Despite this, the software used to control these CNC machines are stuck in the dark ages. It can require hours (sometimes days) of manual instruction by a skilled programmer before a component can be produced.

What's it like to work together?

We're an ambitious company, building a fast paced factory to give our customers the best experience, so this means our production teams are onsite in our Chelmsford factory. We operate a continuous improvement environment whereby we reflect on what we're doing and why and challenge our previous ideas and experiences within manufacturing. We're a progressive team in our factory who help one another and recognise other teams that unblock us and/or support the other to move fast and maintain excellent quality for our customers. Our software engineers are often onsite to collaborate and understand your experiences, requirements, challenges and specialist knowledge.

We have 80+ people, so we're still learning and building different things from the ground up organisationally, technically and operationally. However, we're experienced enough to have structures and robust processes to support greater efficiency, collaboration and success! There is always opportunity to shape the company with your thoughts and feedback whether it's through our All Hands questions/polls, 'Ask Me Anything' time, Peakon platform, open door time, focus groups or our inclusion and diversity network. The CloudNC Manufacturing team

CloudNC is searching for experienced CNC Operators, apprentices or graduates to be a part of our supporting our mission to build the factory of the future for our customers. You will be given the opportunity to work with a highly skilled team of individuals on the latest machining technologies, in an environment that has been built around continuous improvement and open communication.

Successful candidates are natural self-starters who ideally may have prior engineering experience in a production environment. You may have a solid understanding of factory operating procedures and best practices.

You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open collaborative environment. CloudNC's culture encourages innovation and expects operators to take ownership and pride in their work to deliver great products to our customers.

What you'll be doing...

In this role you'll read and interpret component blueprints on a daily basis, working with geometric dimensions and tolerances. You'll be setting up and preparing for machining activities. You'll operate CNC milling machines to ensure maximum efficiency and reduce machine down time. You'll enjoy supporting our production engineers, by setting up new tools and creating datum reference points to ensure smooth running of the machine.

Safety is important, where you'll carefully load and unload raw materials into the CNC machines. You'll have good attention to detail to comply to quality standards and customer specification, by setting gauges and utilising manual measuring instruments appropriately. We'll need you to perform preventative and regular maintenance on machines, equipment and tools used in all processes. We will require you to isolate and potentially quarantine any piece that may not conform to customer specification and report accordingly. At times we may need hand finishing of components. You'll support dispatch with packaging components.

As with all of our teams, you'll work together to ensure good house keeping and maintain a safe environment. You'll utilise online tools and inputs where necessary for important data capture and updates.

We're a match if...

You are apprentice trained in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience. Engineering background ideally operating CNC machines is a bonus. You'll have excellent attention to detail. You have the ability to work autonomously but also as part of a team. You are a strong communicator and responsive to change. You are flexible to our continuous improvement style whereby we test processes and behaviours and adapt to do what’s best for the team and productivity. You actively collaborate with different teams to enrich factory culture and build a factory of excellence in this early phase of our growth.
